A Legacy Built by People

Decades of experience live within the people who build our coaches. Their commitment ensures every coach is built with a level of care that only comes from decades of dedicated skill.

The Legacy of Marathon Coach Excellence

Marathon began in 1983 with a vision to elevate commercial bus shells into something more than a mode of travel. What started as a small team converting these chassis into luxury coaches soon became a company recognized for its craftsmanship, creativity, and devotion to quality.

In the early years, one owner believed in that vision so strongly he invested in the company itself. The Schoellhorn family has guided Marathon ever since, shaping a culture grounded in integrity, long-term stewardship, and pride in the work.

Over the decades, Marathon has grown into the world’s largest and most experienced Prevost chassis converter. Our headquarters in Oregon spans more than 160,000 square feet and brings together design, engineering, paint, cabinetry, and service under one roof, supported by additional sales and service locations in Texas and Florida.

With more than 1,400 coaches built, our legacy reflects both innovation and consistency. Many of the people who shaped our early years still contribute to the coaches we build today, carrying forward skills, techniques, and traditions that define the Marathon name.

And while materials, technology, and design continue to evolve, one thing has never changed: our commitment to creating luxury coaches that stand the test of time, supported by service and care that last long after a coach leaves our facility.

The Most Coaches Ever Built

Marathon has built more than 1,400 luxury motorcoach conversions — more than any other converter in the world. This scale creates a depth of expertise, refinement, and consistency no competitor can replicate.

The Largest Purpose-Built Facility

Our 160,000 square foot headquarters brings design, engineering, cabinetry, paint, production, and service together under one roof. This custom-built facility is unique in the industry, giving our craftspeople unmatched control over every detail.

The Only Converter with a Full In-House Paint Facility

Marathon designs and paints every coach on site, using the same team for restoration and updates years later. This gives us the ability to match, repair, or refine complex exterior designs over time.

A National Service and Remodel Network

With three service centers across the United States, Marathon provides nationwide support for upgrades, maintenance, and remodels. Elsewhere you’ll find companies operating from a single location, offering limited after-sale service and no broad geographic coverage.
