Tim Riley: Meet the Marathon Coach Texas Service Manager

Grand Prairie, Texas

Started with Marathon: May 2022

A family man who loves steak and the color blue, Tim Riley is the new service manager at Marathon Coach Texas. After spending 45 years in the automotive and real estate industries, this affable Texan was drawn to Marathon for the opportunity to enjoy a more normal work-life balance in a family-oriented environment. We sat down with Tim to ask him some questions about himself and his work at Marathon.

What brought you to Marathon?

I was getting back into the automotive industry after spending the last five years selling real estate and thought it would be a welcome change of pace from the car business.

What is your favorite coach?

Coach #1361 without a doubt. I’m a blue guy and #1361 has gorgeous blue colors.

What makes a Marathon coach special
to you?

The entire coach is just the coolest thing,
but the Creston electronic system is amazing.
It lets you control virtually everything so easily it’s ridiculous.

What’s your favorite thing about your job
at Marathon?

The family atmosphere. After spending most of my career in the car business, this is a refreshing environment. I absolutely love meeting and working with people and developing friendships.

What is the coolest thing you have seen
on a Marathon?

I have to say it again, the Crestron. I am a tech junkie and it is an absolutely awesome system.

What is the coolest feature on a Marathon that may get overlooked?

Safety. Marathon goes out of its way to ensure a first-class fit and finish, but we also do not skimp on passenger safety.

Can you give us an example of Marathon’s quality in action or construction?

The attention to safety. For example, the driver and co-pilot seats feature three-point harnesses, which you don’t see in other bus conversions.

Do you prefer the X3 or H3 chassis?

The X3. I love all the chrome and metal.

If you could pick the color(s) for the outside of a coach, what color would you pick?

Blue.

What favorite activities do you do during your free time?

I love to ride my Harley as well as my mountain bike. My son got me interested in cycling and it has helped me focus more on my health. Over the last two years, I’ve lost
120 pounds.

What is your favorite sports team?

Come on now, the Dallas Cowboys, of course.

Describe yourself in three words.

Focused, caring and friendly.

What is your dream vacation location?

Hawaii. I haven’t been, but I turned 60 in 2022 and want to do something special. Hawaii could be it.

Who would play you in a movie of your life?

Actor Chris Pratt.

What is your favorite restaurant in town and what do you order?

I am a meat-and-potato guy so I love to eat at Saltgrass Steak House. I order prime rib medium.

Coke or Pepsi?

I’m not a soda guy.

Cats or Dogs?

I have both — a 7-year-old mastiff named Crash and a 9-month-old tortoiseshell cat named Boo.
