Marathon Coach Club’s 2022 “Terrific Tucson” rally, held April 4-10 at Tucson Lazydays KOA Resort, lived up to its name. The 78 who attended enjoyed beautiful weather, distinct desert landscapes, and wonderful food, from Texas-style barbecue at the Resort’s BBQ Rush restaurant, to an Argentinian Asada dinner at Hacienda del Sol Guest Ranch Resort, to a sumptuous three-course meal in the lovely courtyard of historic Stillwell House, which included local offerings of prickly pear meatballs, calabacitas, and tres leches cake. And naturally, lots of margaritas were served throughout the week; attendees all agreed that they make ’em good in Tucson!
In addition to delicious food, the rally was filled with a variety of unique and fun activities, from guided tours of the Titan Missile Museum and private tram tours at Pima Air & Space Museum, to walking food tours with Tucson Food Tours.
Attendees also explored the amazing 21-acre Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, made unique creations at the Sonoran Glass School and took Eco-Desert Jeep tours with Trail Dust Offroad Tours.
There was little downtime during the rally. And on the final morning—early to beat the heat—a group of five hardy souls toured downtown Tucson on one-speed bicycles, hearing the city’s history and pedaling past outdoor art and colorful murals, as well as homes and buildings with distinct, southwest architecture.
The rally’s final activity was held at Culinary Dropout, where a smorgasbord of tasty food and drinks was served. Also on the menu was a super fun and very popular “cornhole” tournament.
This activity had so many participants that attendees took over the restaurant’s entire indoor cornhole area. We hope you enjoy the rally photos!
